Our Fertility Support Team

Advocates For You

In addition to Arlene J. Morales, MD, FACOG, and Wendy B. Shelly, MD, FACOG, Fertility Specialists Medical Group (FSMG) has a talented team of nurses, andrologists, embryologists, third-party reproductive assistance counselors, and financial advisers to provide the best care for you.

Meet the team that is committed to offering personal, positive support throughout your infertility treatments.

Laboratory Staff: Andrologists & Embryologists

Our consistently excellent pregnancy rates, an increasing percentage of single-embryo transfers, and improvements in embryo and egg freezing (vitrification) are the result of our embryology team’s dedication and expertise.

FSMG’s laboratory staff members are board-certified andrologists and embryologists. Our embryologists are also active members of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and The San Diego Reproductive Endocrinology Society, which provide opportunities for continuing education.

Lab Leaders

  • Lab director Joe Conaghan, Ph.D., is board certified as a high-complexity clinical laboratory director by the American Board of Bioanalysis. He brings more than 19 years of embryology and andrology experience to FSMG.
  • Lab supervisor Kathryn Pache, M.Sc., is responsible for day-to-day operations of both the andrology and embryology laboratories.

Clinical Staff

Our dedicated clinical team includes registered nurses and medical assistants, all of whom play important roles throughout your evaluation and treatment while maintaining a respectful and professional environment.

Everyone on the FSMG clinical team has completed advanced training and education in reproductive health and fertility treatment.

Our medical assistants are certified phlebotomists, who perform blood draws and support the doctors while they perform ultrasounds, egg retrievals and embryo transfers.

Donor Program

Our third-party reproduction team guides patients through the complex world of third-party assisted reproduction services and treatments. This includes assisting patients using egg or sperm donors, gestational carriers, and/or donated embryos.

The third-party reproduction program staff also manages our in-house egg donor program, including recruiting egg donors and assisting in the egg donor-recipient matching process.

Financial Team

Our financial coordinators are your advocates and will meet with you at your first patient appointment. They are here to address your questions on insurance coverage, explain coverage benefits, and help you calculate your out-of-pocket expenses.

Our financial coordinators can also advise on the best options for making your treatment as affordable as possible, including ways to manage treatment costs and determining which financial programs might fit your treatment plan.

You’re unique.
Your fertility plan should be too.
